The Rolex Middle Sea Race is fast becoming one of the most popular offshore classics. Now attracting over 70 yachts each year the competition is fierce for the 600 mile offshore race as the local Maltese yachts battle for honor against some of the best teams from around the world, both professional and amateur. The hospitality provided by the Royal Malta Yacht Club is second to none and the atmosphere created entices people back year after year.
Starting and finishing in Malta under the stunning baroque city of Valetta the race circumnavigates Sicily passing through the Straights of Messina. If you miss the sight of Mount Etna billowing smoke and lava then you will have a second chance as the race passes the live volcano of Stromboli before taking in the breathtaking scenery of the North coast of Sicily.
Our campaign combines training and offshore racing in the UK before we deliver the yacht to Malta. In Malta there is a week of training, racing and preparation before the race begins. Then after the race there is a prizegiving that is the envy of many yacht clubs, which is an absolute must.
Our 2013 Rolex Middle Sea Race campaign is aboard Quokka, our successful Grand Soleil 43 and is skippered by a leading race skipper, Philippe Falle. It also includes accommodation in a stunning apartment for the team prior to the start!
